Mammography: Advanced Breast Imaging for Early Cancer Detection

Mammography is a specialized, low-dose X-ray imaging technique used for examining breast tissue, playing a crucial role in the early detection of breast cancer. Medical experts agree that early diagnosis often improves breast cancer treatment outcomes, as mammography can detect changes in breast tissue up to two years before they are physically noticeable.

Advanced Mammography Services for Accurate Diagnosis

Our facility offers state-of-the-art breast imaging, including full-field digital mammography and Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) technology. CAD enhances diagnostic accuracy by assisting radiologists with image interpretation, while digital mammography provides sharper images with less compression, ensuring greater patient comfort.

Preparing for Your Mammogram

To prepare for your mammogram, avoid wearing deodorant, talcum powder, or lotion under your arms or on your breasts on the day of the exam, as these can appear as calcium spots on the images. If you have previous mammograms, bring them with you for comparison to assist the radiologist in evaluating any changes.

Additional Screening Recommendations and Guidelines

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), the American College of Radiology (ACR), and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), women over 40 should have annual screening mammograms. For further assessment of abnormalities detected on a mammogram or clinical exam, we also offer breast ultrasound (US) for comprehensive breast health care.
