MRI – Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Medical CT or MRI Scan at Monument Imaging & Diagnostic Center in Jacksonville

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe, radiation-free diagnostic tool that uses radiofrequency waves and a strong magnetic field to create detailed images of internal organs and tissues. This non-invasive technique is widely used for diagnosing a variety of health conditions, providing doctors with clear and precise visuals of different areas of the body.

MRI Safety and Metal Implants

Due to the strong magnetic field involved, it’s essential to inform your doctor or MRI technician if you have any metal implants, as MRI can interact with ferromagnetic objects. Common items like surgical staples, plates, screws, or pins generally pose no risk if they have been in place for over four to six weeks. However, always disclose any metallic implants to ensure a safe MRI experience.
